I get that too, I think it's more tiring because when observing you're really working your brain to find all these shapes and lines and do things "correctly". It's an active type of learning, while sketching in your spare time is much more relaxed and comfortable and there's no pressure to do things perfectly. It's totally normal, and it just shows you're learning the proportions/shape/shading of what you're studying.
