When I grew up I loved the comics of Charlie Christensen and the old paintings of Carl Larsson. Their mastery of perspective made their backgrounds feel very real and grounded. As a result, their cartoon characters and stylized people 'popped' against the backdrop. I want to be able to make drawings where if something (or someone) is moving or turning or stretching; it feels as if it's really happening in a three-dimensional space!
