The arm looks to be fairly straight. It is a bit of a tough angle to read, so I understand your confusion. If you look at the palm, it's clear the hand is rotating away to grip the sword. We don't see wrinkles on the elbow, nor do we see lighter color of a bent elbow. This lets us know that the arm is straight and in a relaxed position. Hope this helps, and good luck with your studies!
