The hands are one of the most difficult parts of the body to recreate. In this course I'll share my knowledge of how to better understand and represent the hands using traditional sculpting methods.
This course will cover everything from building proportionate wire armatures for the hands to adding tendons, veins and wrinkles to a finished hand sculpture and everything in between. The bones and anatomy are essential to understand so there will be lessons addressing what you need to know about the anatomy underneath the surface so that your hand sculpted hands can be taken to the next level. If you're ready to take on the challenge of sculpting hands in clay then this course is for you!
In this course I'll be using Chavant medium NSP clay (green/tan) as well as some cheap non-dry modeling clay (brown) but the principles of the course can be done in polymer clay, natural water based clay, epoxy, clay, and many other types of sculpting materials.
This course should be taken with some familiarity with sculpting. If you're new to sculpting I recommend taking my figure sculpting fundamentals course.
The goal is to post a new lesson every other week.
