There are two homework assignments detailed in this lesson. Both are designed to help you think about light and color in new ways while encouraging experimentation.

For the first assignment, we will be analyzing color temperatures based on swatches taken from a painting of your choice.  With your painting selected, open it in Photoshop or other software of your choice and expand your canvas. This will give you enough room to begin creating your swatches! Take samples from sections being hit by the light, and the shadows that are cast. Pay attention to the swatches, and take note of color temperatures, hue, value, and saturation.

For the next assignment, I'd like you to try painting simple objects in different kinds of light.  I personally recommend starting with a sphere for this exercise, but you can paint a cube, a cone, whatever you'd like. Use this exercise to experiment with different light temperatures, sources, and more!

Thanks for the lessons Marco! I enjoyed watching you work with apparent abandon, letting go of the line art early on. I also like your take on color temperature and hope it makes my current digital painting more coherent. One quick question... I think you mentioned a download of your working brushes included with the course, but if that's so, I can't find that file anywhere. Help? Thanks again, Dick
