Here’s some of my latest digital drawings, the first page is most recent and from imagination, inspired loosely by frazetta. They turned out pretty weird, but it’s good practice. I was listening to Steven Zapata’s YouTube which is excellent for getting in the zone! I’m trying to make myself draw more from imagination, since that’s the skill I ultimately want to build and it clearly shows where I’m lacking. The Spider-Man’s are also from imagination, but I’m not too happy with most of those. Crits and thoughts would be much appreciated!!

Not much to critique, these are really great! In terms of drawing from imagination, I think the biggest thing to pay attention to when you do it is which bits you actually struggle with, so you know what to go and practice/refine.

Yes this exactly! I can tell something isn’t working right, I just have to try and look for what it is. Much thanks I’ll be thinking about it!

@pollypopcorn
I agree that drawing from imagination is helpful. I think it's best to have a mix of drawing from imagination and drawing from reference/life and study. Your drawings have a nice feel to them. The only critique I can think of is on the skulls you drew I think the jaws need to be wider and also skulls don't go exactly straight back from the chin to the corner of the jaw (it's more curved), at least if you're going for more realistic. Keep up the good work!

Thank you very much @pollypopcorn! I agree the balance between all those disciplines is so important, I need to try and work more from life too. But your totally right about those skulls, I can definitely see what your saying now! I’ve always had a bit of a tricky time getting the jaw right, I’ll keep a lookout for those points! Thanks for the kind words.
