Hello everyone ! I thought I would post my latest art as my firt topic. I have been practicing watercolor for a year and some months now and I’m having a blast. As soon as you get over the “backwards” way of working, it’s such a great medium. Especially to convey an idea quickly when doing plein air paintings. These 2 are based on photos and like the title says, they are my latest 2.

Quickly you say? I always have to wait ages for the paint to dry, and still it bleeds together when i think it has dried when it actually hasn't... i must be doing something wrong... they certainly dont look like yours... :)

Those are looking cool! You really got the shape simplified into chunks and the subtle color patches are looking diverse. I never really got my hands on transparent way of painting but I guess I should try sometimes.

Thank you. It’s a fantastic medium for staying loose. The water has a mind of it’s own.

Hey Sebastien, great paintings! What's the backwards way of working?

Thank you. By that I meant starting with the lightest color and going darker and darker. Since watercolor is transparent paint, you have to think ahead of time where your highlights are going to be and let those parts be the white of the paper. You can’t go light over dark like other paints, unless you “cheat” a bit with gouache 😉
