Hi guys, I have this little issues with my pencils. after I sharpened them and try to shade with them and even on the point sometimes , it feels like there are those tiny hard pieces in the lead and it messes the shading process and give this scratchy feeling on the paper. Any suggestion ? Do I do something wrong ? Thanks in advance guys.

Sorry for the late response. Thanks y’all for the tips I’ll try them and see what happens, thanks again.

This happens to me all the time. I now just keep a cloth next to me and wipe off the top whenever I notice a little scratchy bit. I’ve found that this is the most effective way of getting rid of the pieces as well as making sure they don’t end up on the paper and mess up the art piece.

Any pencil would sometimes have tiny crushed stones in it. Just draw back and forth on another piece of paper until that piece is removed.
