Some examples of construction lines being used to build up cartoon figures. I generally almost always use construction lines when cartooning (unless I'm just sketching for general enjoyment) or for doing an illustration that requires perspective, lighting, and or objects to be involved with characters

Nice examples, @William P, and super important topic to be brought up. Construction is essential in most cartoon styles too, and it’s something many beginners tend to overlook or ignore. After some practice of this, even when we’re sketching more fast and freely and don’t literally draw a construction layer, I’d say we’re somewhat visualizing the parts and making some kind of quick “mental construction”, don’t you think? 🙂
I really like the expression on the character to the right, and I love the “inky” quality of your lines. 👍🏻
