Hi everyone! Does anyone of you know which book will be a complete guide to beginners for drawing cartoon characters or drawing from imagination? I would really appreciate any recommendations.

Well book wise, James Gurney's both books Imaginative Realism and Color & Light is really your friend. Me personally I don't think using books helped that much in terms of imaginative ideas, but technique wise they hinted maybe several things. Mostly I think what you should do is just draw a lot... Draw what you like, and find out why you like and don't like a specific piece, like... how the shape is wrong, or how the shading doesn't read well, and repeat. Soon you'll have your own approach to doing imaginative stuff :D

I see books as a treasure of knowledge. Maybe they can't help us to learn something completely, but they can really act as a guide and as a reference.

Hi Sagnik Are you a beginner when it comes to drawing in general or just as it relates to cartoon characters?
