Did you follow Stan's step by step video on drawing an eye? I think his drawings can be generalistic.
It might be worth drawing from life. Developing your own style.

I did this following Stan's video. But really struggle by myself. I'm thinking maybe the problem is I am trying draw from imagination instead of looking at an eye.

this is my eye drawing. I kind of rushed it because I was getting a little impatient. does anyone know any good books or pictures I could buy where there is references of real people's facial features close up. Part of my time doing this was trying to find a good eye picture up close that has good lighting and darkness.
the centre of the eye (iris or whatever it's called) looks too big to me. But that might be because there isn't much detail around the eyelids.
I'm having the same problem finding pictures.
I wish I could participate. Too busy with a new site I just launched :(
