I got the Conte a Paris Pierre Noire and I love the black color. However, mine tends to have some grit from time to time even after I sharpen it with a razor blade and sand paper. I’ll draw with it for a bit until I get that “scratchy” sound and I have to go onto some scratch paper to work it out. Do any of you have that issue? Or am I just not sharpening it correctly?

Yes I have the same problem, and I find it very frustrating to work with this pencil (1710 B/2B/3B). I have previously used the Faber Castell Pitt Charcoal (soft), and whilst it was extremely soft and quite difficult to make a light line with, I much prefer it to the 1710. @Patrick Jones do you have a recommendation for how to handle this pencil? Is the grittiness to be expected?
