Asked for help
Hi all, I made this as the final assignment and referenced the image more than following Stan's video. (also used the Loomis Method for structure). Let me know if you have feedback at all. How do you structure the darker shades of hair? From my laptop (which has a dodgy screen lol), it all looks black and therefore I would have to design the hair better (as opposed to what I did). Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi @Leon, nice portrait! Good job with the proportions and allignment of the features; the loomis method gave your drawing a succesful structure. Maybe making the tones more even could give it a cleaner look, but that's surface work, the main thing I want to do is to congratulate you on finishing the course, and guide you on your next steps. As you learn more about the fundamentals of drawing, your portraits will improve. I would suggest taking the Figure Drawing Fundamentals course, and The Shading Course – Fundamentals of Realism, Light & Shadow next. The courses teach you some of the most important things about drawing: gesture and geometric forms (the figure drawing course) and values (the shading course). You can take the courses in any order you'd like, both courses are beginner friendly, but I think you would would get more out of the shading course, with the figure drawing course behind you. Hope this helps, and happy drawing!

Hey all, finished this assignment of Nikolai using pencil and paper. I used a bit of the Loomis method for structure (slightly different to the video). Found doing wrinkles quite challenging. Any comments or criticism would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, @leon.art_0
