I'm a little confused about this course. When do we learn how to make vanishing points? How far apart do I separate the floor lines leading further away? Is this the wrong course for learning how to create vanishing points that lead off the page?

Is anyone else having trouble figuring out how to use the two triangles and ruler to get all the angles drawn? I'm having a bit of trouble following the video. Specifically where do I place the ruler and the two triangles?

My drafting tools just arrived and I'm so frustrated because the bevels on the squares keep falling off the ruler when flipped upside down. Also the squares were cracked when Amazon delivered them.

What I’ve learned so far: Other than a pencil and ruler, I don’t have all the tools yet, but here’s what I’m picking up along the way. I need to stay limber like a snake to avoid overuse injuries, experiment with different tools like felt-tip pens, mechanical pencils, and explore various graphite types (I imagine the snake using a pencil as fangs for this one). I’ve started playing with single-point perspective by creating boxes at different levels and points in linear space—then doing a lot of correcting (hence, the eraser on the rattlesnake tail). I’m also learning to use dark, thick lines for the front of objects, light, thin lines for the rear, and how scale lines get closer together as objects move farther away. Lastly, I’m sketching random thoughts and letting my mind wander freely. Normally, I wouldn’t show this, but since it’s part of the class, I figure I might as well share the journey!

OMG, I’m so excited to start learning! I’ve been sitting here with pencil and paper, watching 11 videos, but I haven’t drawn a single mark yet. I totally get that you’re teaching me how to see first, and I appreciate it, but I’d love just a little drawing time. I’m sure we’ll get there soon!
