Asked for help
I'm not sure how to focus on capturing the gesture/rhythm in 5 minutes while being accurate with proportions. Also I don't want my line quality to suffer. Any tips are welcome.
Melanie Scearce
I think especially in the early phases of learning rhythm it's ok to sacrifice some accuracy in proportions as long as you are studying anatomy in tandem. As you learn more about anatomy and accurate proportions, it will become easier to incorporate that into your gesture drawings. For now, it's a good goal to achieve accurate proportions but I would put finding beautiful rhythm first for now. These are good drawings, keep it up!
@falloutkb
Not sure if I captured enough of the gesture, and flow, and focused too much on interesting shapes. Thoughts?
@falloutkb
I still did too much eyeballing because that's what I'm used to, and I don't personally enjoy portraits. That said I know the importance of measuring and accuracy so I'll give it another go after watching the demo.
@falloutkb
I did attempt a couple before watching the demo, but I didn't feel great about them, so these are after that. I'm going to do many more of these because I'm not used to breaking down anything into simple shapes. Wish me luck, and keep drawing.

Keep going! I think you did great. Just vary your lines and it will help a lot.
Melanie Scearce
Doing many iterations will definitely help you feel more comfortable with this exercise! Good luck :)

My second attempts after watching the demo.
@falloutkb
My attempts before watching the demo. I know I rushed the boots, I could tell my proportions were off right away, and the laces kind of made me spiral to just not finish them.

Better this time around, but still couldn't finish the laces/boots. Was taking too long and lines were getting worse so I'm moving on to the critique to learn a little more.

I don't understand the challenge. Are we supposed to draw linear drawings only for the next two weeks?
@falloutkb

Yes, and no. The challenge is to fill a page with liner drawings, each day for two weeks. While continuing to watch the videos/do the projects. Hope that helps.
@falloutkb
Attempt number two after watching the demo. Feel free offer feedback, and happy drawing.

Decided to do a 3rd attempt. I feel it's more accurate overall.
