Hi Aaron, I love your work. What has been the biggest problem you have had to overcome in your art journey?

What's the biggest difficulty you have had to overcome in your art journey so far?
Cool work, I think one thing that could help is practicing more with drawing consistently sized boxing turning in perspective, and using a system from someone like George Bridgman or Andrew Loomis may help.

From my experience, it has helped me to research how George Bridgman and Andrew Loomis did the head structure, in order to get a better likeness. Also, the more you fail, the more you improve, as painful it can be sometimes, just keep on practicing portraits.

Awesome sketch! One thing I noticed was the sketch seems to be more skinny than the model. I believe it's primarily the model's left arm and the sternocleidomastoid muscle. The head's proportions are off from the reference also, but I feel like it could also be the style you are going for. You have some pretty cool sketches.

good sketch, I can see how you copied what you saw on the reference for the lighting. But with the reference you used, I think it would be more useful to invent the lighting instead of following what you see for your goal. I have struggled with similar problems a lot also, and I know for myself making sure to focus longer on the gesture and structure before adding the details such as shading can really help.

Overall it looks pretty nice, the deltoid inserts into the brachialis, and in your sketch, it looks a little bit too far to the left on the model's left side.
The thing you circled I think could be considered still part of the abs but the main divot is caused by the xiphoid process from the ribcage.
