will this most likely be the darkest dark in the drawing? And how hard are you pressing?

I like your complex shape and up lighting here. Watch out for some of those spotty darks that you have in the little tail at bottom left. Your lights also look a little bleached out, you might want to give them a bit of subtle form love in those open light areas.
Physics meets art class. I absolutely loved this. LOL.
I was surprised by the detailed technical explanation. I even had to look up some words in the old dicionary. English is not my first language and I know zero about physics. But I THINK I got it... I made a screenshot of the final presentation to keep as a reference.

It's necessary stuff to cover, but remember, when you're drawing you're drawing. Physics can only take you so far. Even "perfect" 3d renders get touched up and improved by artists.

Asked for help
The follow along one is drawn on cheap printing paper and it stopped talking graphite after a while so I ordered a sketchbook and followed up on assignment today, I decided to combine eye and nose, it was difficult but I feel great after being able to finish the drawing. Scanning the drawing takes subtle gradations away but I have to share my art somehow, so it has to do.
I see you have spend a lot of time working on the layout and shadows. Kudos! I would like this a bit darker to better see the the roundness of ball of the eye and the pupil for example. I think it would really pop so to speak. Nice job!!
