Hello, I recently got the Figure Drawing course and have been paying particular attention to gesture and trying to draw many every day. These are all 2 min poses, some from the demo video, others from Pinterest. Still have a lot to practice but feel I'm a bit more comfortable than before. Any insights are truly appreciated. Thanks! @Jesper Axelsson

Hi @cesarcarlos, nice studies! It's great to see the improvement of linequality and rhythm, from the first images to the last. - Overall, the gesture is pretty good, but the figures feel broken at places. Try this exercise: Do some more figure drawings, where you try to capture the gesture, but build the figures with pieces. Focus on the shape and proportion of the pieces. Also check so that the pieces that are mirror versions of eachother are the the same lenght and width. So, for example, when you've drawn the left upper arm and the right upper arm, compare the two and make sure that they are the same lenght. Tag me when you've done a few👍 Cheers!

Hi, been working on gesture trying to get many drawings down over the last couple days. These are a few I made. Tried to find the stretch and pinch in all poses, but not sure if I'm doing it right or if there are any things I should work on particularly. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks! @Jesper Axelsson

Hi @cesarcarlos, nice drawings! Good feeling of movement. I like the shape design. It has nice rhythm (each line flows into the next). I made a paintover with some notes. Some things to take with you: -Enclose your shapes, so that you're clear about what you're trying to say. - Keep on exploring how you can simplify the design - Practice your linework, maybe as a daily warm-up. The Drawing Basics course has a lot of info about that. There is also this video How to Hold and Control Your Pencil. Pencil technique in short: Draw from your shoulder Be relaxed You could ghost the line you want to attempt, first (If you want to draw a curve, you can move the pen in a circular motion, where one part of the circle is the actual line) then put down the line with confidence (It's easy to panic and tense up here, but stay relaxed as if you were a line master) But don't expect accuracy; that comes with practice But I think the correct relaxed technique should be there from the start Hope this helps :) Keep up the good work!

Some exercises, I wanted to focus mostly on head forms and angles. Features need a lot of work as I still don't know how to place them properly, these are just for reference.

Hi all, new on the course. Been trying some loomis heads. Also, trying to set up my sketchbook at an angle which feels a little weird (I usually draw flat on the desk). Also trying the overhand grip but always end up going back to the tripod grip.

Hi @cesarcarlos, I think these drawings look really nice. Pretty good construction and nice linework. - Draw through the forms as if the head was made out of glass, to make sure that the construction is strong. Find the construction lines on the visible side, but also do the same for the non visible side. Check if you've made the two sides of the head symmetrical by running perspective lines back and forth. How much experience do you have in drawing? What courses have you taken? Have you learned how to draw simple forms, like boxes, cylinders and spheres in perspective? - The overhand grip takes some time getting used to, but it's definitely worth it. Try drawing larger. It's harder to control short strokes with the overhand grip. I like to draw on an A2 paper (roughly 18x24 in inches) Hope this helps :) Let me know if you have any questions!
