Begining to understand art

Hi, I'm Aaryan. I'm a 19 year old student who is preparing for entrance into the medical field but I was always inclined towards art and still am. I mostly draw from references but I want to develop my own style as well and I'm trying to do it. I haven't learnt any form of art formally. I'd appreciate if you could guide me towards the path that I shall take if I want to go into the art field professionally. I'm attaching the various types of works which I have done recently

Hi Aaryan, I definitely see your enthusiasm for art but you need to move past coping photos to get to the next level. You’ll want to sign up for some foundation drawing classes. You need to be able to look at a photo and then brake down the simple geometric forms and structures before adding the shading and detail. Make sure to watch Prokos head drawing videos where he demos the Loomis head break down to see what I’m trying to explain in words. Good luck!

If you'd allow me to give you my impression: the problem isn't really a lack of personal style, it looks like you are copying the reference instead of analyzing it. I would recommend looking up Glenn Vilppu and seeing how he draws animals. It's much more construction based, so that you understand animals as simple forms. If you want to go into animal drawing, check out Terryl Whitlatch, Aaron Blaise, Ellenberger's Anatomy, Eliot Goldfinger's Animal Anatomy, and Joe Weatherly. Your personal style is like your voice. It comes naturally from YOU and you can influence it by the artistic influences you surround yourself with, and the artists you do master studies from. It will come naturally. One of the biggest blunders you can make is masking a lack of ability with "style"

Nice work! For Guidance I would advice you to go for a mentorship. You could watch the second season of the Draftsmen podcast. Because that season is all about self-study vs school. They also have a separate episode on mentorships. A mentor can guide you personally which will always give you great results and great answers. At least, my two terms with Tiffanie Mang did that for me. Regarding finding a style, just draw every day and the style will find you! That being said, I really love your calf! <3
