Thank you Stan. This course has been exceptionally helpful for me in mapping out the important skills that are essential for excellence in drawing. My drawing has improved substantially, but more importantly I know what else there is to learn and practice, and I got much better at identifying weaknesses in my own work. I look forward to revisiting these drawing lessons in the future. Thank you for your generous critiques. I have learned a lot from each one.
LESSON NOTES

What's in Premium?

In this final critique, we review student skull drawings to see who mastered the concept of Lost Edges and who played it too safe. The biggest mistake beginners make is outlining every single form, which flattens the image. On the flip side, if you lose too many edges, your drawing turns into a blurry mess.

I’ll show you how to find the right balance. You will learn how to merge shadows with the background, simplify repetitive details like teeth, and use sharp "found" edges to create strong focal points. I do paint-overs on student work to demonstrate how adjusting just a few lines can instantly add depth and atmosphere to your shading.

You don't need to outline every single shape to make a drawing look real. Great drawings rely on the relationship between lost and found edges. If you blur everything it looks like a mess. You need strong sharp lines to make the lost areas work. This contrast creates depth and connects your subject to the background.

I wonder if Stan will make another course and if he will, what would it be?

This course has really helped me improve, and I might go through it again just to do all the projects. I literally started thinking that I could go straight to inking no pencils just straight to ink. And my drawings were garbage so thank you Stan for everything.

That’s a cry face right? If so I agree.
