This course is probably the best gift I’ve ever given myself. I’ve even managed to keep up with the schedule. I only have the last project from Level 1 left to complete, and I’ll definitely go back to the unfinished exercises from Level 2. Almost a year ago I also bought the figure and portrait courses. I even started the Figure Drawing, but I gave up. I guess I was trying to do too many things at once. As for the goal - it’s not really clearly defined. I’m learning as a adult person, just enjoying the process and fulfilling a childhood dream to draw well. It will definitely help with my other hobbies too - different kinds of crafts, like designing pop-up cards or felt mascots. I only wish the course had existed earlier - my first attempts at learning to draw were terribly chaotic, and of course I probably made every beginner mistake possible, like carefully shading a sketch with completely wrong proportions.
LESSON NOTES

What's in Premium?

You made it to the end! In this final lesson, we review the journey from clean lines to 3D thinking. But finishing the course is just the beginning. I discuss how to maintain your momentum by revisiting projects and tackling Level 2 assignments now that you have the skills to handle them.

I also share advice on navigating the ups and downs of an artist's life, including how to deal with plateaus and avoid the trap of comparing yourself to social media. We cover strategies for building a consistent daily habit and removing friction from your practice. Finally, I map out exactly what you should study next based on your goals, whether that’s figure drawing, anatomy, or perspective.

Congrats on finishing the Drawing Basics course! What's next?

Stan I hope you get to read this. Thank you so much for this amazing course. It’s been one of my favorites out of all the course options. A lot of this I had learned in art school, but it was an incredible refresher course. It also introduced some new approaches and techniques I had never learned before, as well as clarifying certain concepts that I never quite fully understood. I was confident in my work before this course, but after this course, I feel like I’ve leveled up so much more. It’s also really helped reignite a passion for drawing. It’s turned back into an obsession. One that I love so much. Thanks for putting in the time and effort into this course, and for building this entire platform. You’re a huge inspiration. I’ll be revisiting this course often. P.S. I Also enjoy how your beard has progressively gotten grayer throughout this course.

I’m so grateful I found this course series when I was stuck in a huge art bottleneck. As a self-taught designer, this is exactly what I’ve been missing. Those days when I could fully immerse myself in the lessons and assignments were some of my happiest and most fulfilling times. Even though I later had to shift to learning AI for work, I’m finally back—and ready to pick up where I left off. Stan, please accept my deepest respect. You’ve been a guiding light on my art journey, and I mean that sincerely. I’ve attached a quick sketch I drew of you, inspired by the course cover!

This was a great gift I got myself when the preorders were out. Although I got discouraged seeing the same people in the reviews week after week. I do plan on returning and finishing the rest of the course. I got stuck on values but I do want to finish that! Life has been tough the last year but I still try to draw daily!

Stan, it isn't "was" a great course for me. It is still a great course and I need to loop it 10 times over. Thanks again Dermot Edit I'm wondering if you ripped off Skelly and took ALL the credit ! I think he was the Bones of the course! :)

I really loved this course and I’m a bit sad that it’s over. That said, it was a great ride and I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in drawing. Excellent work, Stan!

This course has been nothing but incredible. I am by no means a professional, but I would not be anywhere close to where I am today without this course. I can't believe it's over. The amount of times I have come back to this course has helped me so much. And I don't think I'll ever stop coming back here. Thank you so much Stan. This course helped begin and honestly saved my art journey.
@pierreyves
The last one was a few weeks ago and the first one was 10 months ago at the beginning of this course; A lot of thing to improve but I am proud of my ugly drawing because they help me see my mistake and give me direction. Your course was one of my best investment. Thank you Stan

This course has been such an important part of my life for the past few years and it's given me so much confidence, I will really miss it. But the good thing is, it's evergreen! I know I will go back to the instruction videos and assignments in the future and always find more to learn from them. Thank you so much for the course and for the whole Proko platform - it's been my arts school that I could afford on a budget and attend from a remote location.

With all sincerity: God Bless you Stan. You have been given multiple gifts, and we truly appreciate you sharing them with us. As a senior and retiree, I've found a LOT of pleasure while continuing to learn from your excellent course. Well done, sir.

Wow! What a great course. Congratulations Proko on such an accomplishment. I highly recommend to all those interested in art to find a local live figure drawing gathering or some sort of organization/club in your area to connect to other artist. There is something about being around other artist drawing a beautiful figure in front of you that just makes you feel more connected and inspired. There is so many people on here and on social media that you can feel unnoticed. Us artist need each other! Find others locally that are just as passionate about art.

I already posted these under the project lost edges, level one. But I figured that they work better here. I redid the entire course using photo nr. 6 (from the lost edges project) of Skully as my reference. It took me a week, I think. Trying to draw in the evening. I can recommend it very much. Redoing the course showed me which subjects I needed to work on more. I already was pretty good in gesture and composition so most of my drawings leaned heavy on those. I need to study cross contours more and seeing things as three D objects with planes that interact with light. The difference between the skulls that I posted to be critiqued for the lost edges project and the one that I did now is mostly the time that I spend on the details. This is thanks to the critique that Stan gave. It made me realise that I could not avoid teeth forever. The last skull I post is one made with ink pen, gouache, pencil and photoshop. I was inspired by Bill Sienkiewicz to throw everything at the paper. I could not have made this before the course, I can now. But more importantly I know now better what mistakes I make and how to improve them. Thank you Stan and Proko for this amazing course. I hope these pictures inspire you guys. I have been very inspired by what you all shared here.
Maria Bygrove
I love your idea of reding all the projects with one subject, I feel it will be both a good way to revise and a way of getting at a great final drawing. Will definitely try this :)

Would you say that if I want to learn figure drawing after this course a good order would be be figure drawing fundamentals -> anatomy course -> portrait drawing?
Brandon

I would say the portrait drawing and the figure drawing are more or less the same level, anatomy course seems to be a lot more advanced and difficult

Words cannot express my gratitude, Stan. Now I am addicted to drawing. Although some days I was too tried and my drawing session didn't turn out to be what I expected, the time and commitment to this course really teach me lots of thing and I am lots of steps closer to my goal. The community have been really supportive too. Truly thank YOU for everything! I will definitely revisit the whole course in the future.
@teolindroos
Thank you Stan and the crew! It was really fun, when this started I was travelling from Europe Finland to USA. Did first few assigments on the road and I treasure that memory so much. Thank you so much and best of luck with upcoming new challenges!

Thank you so much Stan and everyone in the community. The course revealed a ton of my weakness I wouldn't have realized if I hadn't start this series of lessons. Now I'm going back to the first assignment and drawing peas again😁 See you again!

I didn't always get to do all the content, glad it's curated and I can go back anytime. As an artist that is middle of the road skill this course got me back into art and basics and getting rid of some rusty bad habits. MUCH appreciated for it.

Congrats to all who have made it through this course! And congrats Stan & team on completing one of the most thorough art courses out there! This has played such a critical role in my art education over the past three years of its production. Looking forward to referencing the material time and time again!
