If you want to learn perspective drawing and you’re willing to break some rules, then you need to check out ZOLLY!

One of the most effective ways to draw with dynamic perspective is to play with its extremes... close and far contrasts can make your images exciting. The main purpose of this app is to heighten your awareness that position and proximity make all the difference in how objects appear.

ZOLLY was designed to help you practice various forms in perspective, from simple and advanced primitive shapes, to more complex objects like vehicles and buildings. Draw from orthographic views, to extreme views, to anything in between. Manipulate forms in space with surprising viewpoints through a virtual camera, to expand your imagination, and prompt you to use perspective daringly as you play with form and space in your drawings.

Key Features

  • Tons of ready-made models to tackle both basic and advanced perspective challenges
  • Total control of the camera to get the exact view and perspective distortion you’re looking for
  • Grid lines, ground planes, and low-poly models to help you understand perspective
  • Primitive models that ease you into more complex forms, with edges and lines that can be turned on and off to better understand the underlying perspective
  • A perfect tool to use with the Proko Perspective course
  • Why ZOLLY?

Filmmakers invented the Dolly Zoom (ZOLLY) by moving the camera while zooming the lens, keeping an object the same size as it flattens or swells, creating iconic moments in movies like JAWS and Vertigo. This app allows you to play the same mind-bending effect to see how position and proximity change everything! ZOLLY lets you experiment with viewpoints and effects that you could never pull off with a physical camera.

To use the Zolly app, stick to simple gestures. Rotate the view by tracing gentle arcs on your screen with one finger. To pan around, place two fingers on the screen and drag them in the same direction. Zoom in or out by pinching or spreading two fingers apart. These controls make it easy to navigate and adjust your view.

Hover your mouse on the top right of the screen to access window top bar minimize controls. After pressing minimize, you can press Windows + Arrow left or right to show Zolly on half the screen. Press Alt + Enter and it will go back to fullscreen mode with no top bar.

Navigating with a mouse in Zolly is straightforward and fluid. To rotate the view, simply click and hold the left mouse button while dragging to adjust your angle. For precise panning, use the middle mouse button and drag to shift your perspective. Zooming in and out is effortless with the scroll wheel, and for finer control, hold the right mouse button while scrolling to slow the zoom speed by 90%, allowing for a more deliberate adjustment.

Keyboard controls: Q and E zoom in and out and W, A, S, D Pan up, down, left and right.

You can resize the screen by hovering up to the left and interacting with the green fullscreen button next to close. You can hold click on that button and a dropdown will show allowing for showing half the screen.

Mouse: To rotate the view, click and hold the left mouse button while dragging to adjust your angle. Trackpad: Single finger rotate. No pan or zoom as the support for touch drag vs click isn't there for Unity and Mac.
