John Vanderpoel's 'The Human Figure' is a bit old school but I found it quite useful. Some great drawings in it too.

For this lean and twist example, the first tutorial video draws the overlapping lines in a certain direction from this reference - yet later in the twist assignment examples video, we're asked to spot what is wrong and are told the lines should overlap in the other direction - I'm confused as to which of these we should follow
Hi Emily, If you try moving your right shoulder forward (the way the model's doing) you can actually feel the skin on your torso stretching in a way that's consistent with the first diagram (in blue ink). Hope that helps!

Hi Dwight, Nice portrait. If you draw a center line on the reference it runs diagonally from top right to bottom left On the drawing it's a bit more straight up and down. This makes the nose and mouth look a little too far to the right. Also the nose might be a tiny bit too long. I often rush the early 'mapping ' stage and make the same error. Hope that helps.

This drawing went into a totally different direction as I thought. Struggling to get proportions and movement right I did let go of precision and it turned out into a more wild version.
Looks good! Might look even better if the thickness of the thumb was a bit more varied along its length (with a more tapered end maybe).
My entry for 'favourite book covers'. One of my favourites from h.p lovecraft 'the colour out of space', ink and promarkers.
Nice one! This would make a cool cover for a graphic novel based on the Lovecraft story.
Hello everyone. I recently finished Life of Pi by Yann Martel, and I knew that I had to use it for my inspiration. It's a really great and plenty famous too. I definitely recommend this book!
As you can tell, I don't really do digital, (probably because I don't have it. :I) but I worked really hard on this, and I included the colors I used. I would look cleaner as digital for sure, but I'm trying not to dwell on that fact.
P.S (stands for "Post Script" btw) This is my first time participating in a challenge and I loved it!
Nice one! I'd forgotten how crucial that turtle was in the story. I think it's great you didn't go the digital route. 'Cleaner' isn't necessarily better. Although I did have to magnify it to get a close look at little Richard Parker haha!
Hi all, this is my submission for the April Proko Challenge. I decided to make an alternative cover for a Stephen King book. Pretty hard to pick one because there are so many classics to choose from, but I went with ‘Elevation’. It’s a fairly recent novella about a man who weighs the same in his clothes and out of them, no matter how heavy they are. He also steadily loses weight, even though he doesn’t look any different. This isn’t a horror story, but rather a beautiful tale of acceptance and overcoming prejudice. If you haven’t read Stephen King before, I think this novella is a great starting point!
I also edited it in a mock-up, cuz it looks really nice 😂
Nice design! Haven't read this one but your cover conveys the theme in a simple, effective way.
Hi Guys, Here's my book cover submission. Tried to keep things simple. Inspired by Poe's 'The Raven'.
Hey everybody, Here is my submission for the April Proko Challenge. I've been relistening to Lovecrafts work recently and thought he'd make a good subject. I based my design on the woodcut novels of Lynd Ward. Hope you like the result.
