The hand was hard to get, getting the flow, and the robot felt a bit too stiff I think for the first one, so I tried to somehow push the gesture a bit more (I just realized I forgot the eyes). Added a bonus pic, which I think was a mix of easier because it was mostly "straight" lines, but I was standing up and not too comfortable. Overall happy because it was fun to just be more "free" with the lines, trying to search for the shapes and flow, and not get stuck on them not being perfect. I hope I don't get stuck though with always drawing too many lines and not committing (e.g. the hand feels like it has so many lines).

These were my attempts, with the single boot being after watching the demo. Damn the laces ! (and I still messed up matching the proper hole even after watching the demo)

Wasn't going to try this because it felt hard but decided to give it a shot before checking the demo. It took me a bit longer than I expected. I started with some thumbnails after seeing the pear critique and someone using them, to get a sense of the drawing and values. I kept forgetting that I had to simplify and quickly ended up going to details, and then remembering the idea of the assignment, e.g. the lips could have been simpler maybe, which I ended up doing on the left side, or simplifying the left eye. Also wasn't sure what to do with the hair, for instance. Also, filling in with just the tip and make it smooth was time-consuming/hard... I could probably the shadows darker, etc. But overall I'm happy with the result and the exercise. Now I want to understand what I'm doing and not just draw what I see (plus see how it could have been simplified)

Here are my pears. I started off without really knowing what the idea was and trying to understand the idea (free version, ups). Then I saw the explanation and demo, and hopefully improved a bit. At least I tried to better capture the values. I am still falling in the trap of not simplifying some parts and getting stuck with details, but after seeing the critique I will try level 2 and hopefully apply the ideas.
