Like a lot of other people those laces took me a good while! And I definitely think they could be a lot smoother (maybe with more simplification?) On the whole I'd say I'm happy with these. Certainly not perfect, but if I was perfect I wouldn't be taking a course! If anybody has suggestions for improvements I'd love to hear them.

I think maybe I could have simplified more on the boots?

Are people taking a 2 week pause in the course while doing this challenge, or doing it concurrently with the lessons?
Gaurav Biwalkar
No, do it concurrently while you are watching the other lessons.

5/14 didn’t have time to draw for the past few days 😭 hopefully my streak won’t break again Also I tried to draw simple objects like my wallet, but now they seem floaty? Are there any tips on how to make it look like it’s on the table?
Stephen Worthington
I think the floatiness may come because you've not captured the shadows of the objects. Our minds are trained to use so many cues to relate objects to each other in space, and shadow is definitely a big one

First image is yesterday's pear before watching the demo and critique, second is today's pear Happy with the improvement, though think I prefer HB over 2B for the lighter tone. One big difference in the second image is that I used the tip of the pencil rather than broad side for shading, tricky to get a smooth shade but good to practice!

This is a great improvement. Your values are more defined, nice work.

I can see a lot of improvement. The clarity of the tones is much nicer and the shape more defined! Very nice

My attempt at the pear before watching the demo. The 5 values aspect got away from me a little, and I definitely relied more on the outlines than I should have (I re-lined them which I definitely think detracts from it overall) Happy for any other critique, positive or negative, thanks!
