The Loomis model comes especially in handy when breaking down such a complex form, as it helps to think about it in its most simple view, that being a sphere with the plane of the face. It can help to visualize these simple forms as you approach the skull from different angles, taking note of how the change in viewpoint would change the curvature visible on the form, and subsequently the placement of the features as they wrap around.
