John Harper
What is the source for that image? I would like to try drawing the gesture and mannequin.

What are you finding difficult about measuring from photos? You should be able to measure sight size or comparatively more easily from photo than from life, because A: you don't have to worry about your model moving, and B: you can measure directly on the photo so inconsistencies in your bodies position don't effect the outcome. It looks to me like you would benefit from spending more time on each Drawing. Allow yourself the opportunity to fix the mistakes. Also, stepping back and using a mirror are valuable tools for spotting the mistakes as you go. I read that bougueareau would blink rapidly to see the essence. I find this works well for judging the drawing as a whole. For me most problems in value and proportions arise from focusing on a small portion and not seeing the entirety. To summarize, I recommend that you fix your mistakes by spending more time, step back, use a mirror, and also try blinking.

Overall, good job. I think I would have pushed the gesture a bit further on the seated female. See how the hip pushes further out?

If you're using a phone you can always try printing it out and putting it up so you can measure. Or if your screen you use is big enough then that works as well. A good thing about photos is that its easy to compare your proportions by overlaying the image with your drawing. Otherwise if that's still not helping ask someone to pose for you (I know this can be a bit easier said then done but it doesn't have to even be nude). I hope this helped and that i've addressed accurately what you are asking for advice on

hi there as you can see I start in strong blocking out the shapes fair enough and I am actually happy with it but as I continues past it I seem to forget an stage or rush it I don't really know what that results in ruining my practice and i don't seem to get it even with practicing over and over again what do you suggest ? tnx for your feedbacks 🙏

I would suggest subscribing to Stephen Bauman's patreon. In my opinion, he demonstrates how to use value to bring out form better than any other artist I've seen. If you draw along with his live streams and follow the same steps he does from beginning to end (with your own reference), you'll make major progress and your patience will improve.

I'm so bad in shading linearts and finding interesting shapes but i hope it can be called a sketch pls be gentle with me tnx my character is a beetle tank that is designed to save the world from humen 🤣haha
@hopesama
hi again I remembered an other question as for objects in cast shadows how can we keep it's high contrast so it will stand out and still be in a cast shadow thank you very much 🙂
@hopesama
hi dorian, goodday to you my question is how do you lit the model to get the best results of shapes another question is that when is the best time to start drawing models that are light from all directions thank you in advance 🙏😊
@hopesama
the proportions and likeness are way off why don't I notice any of it sooner ?

Hey Hopesama, you have some really nice things going on in this study. You have really cool line work, and your edges are cool. Likeness is really tough to get. Most pro artists I know will do a trace over of a portrait in a professional setting to make sure they get everything correct. Looking at your drawing, it looks like the eyes are a bit big, and the chin is a bit pointy. The advice I've gotten in the past is start tracing portraits as an exercise. After you've done a long study on a head and you don't feel like it's quite there, spend some time after just tracing the head and correcting your mistakes. Then after you're done, give it another shot with the things you learned from your tracing in mind. Hope this helps!
