Beautiful lines.

All camera lenses distort the image. The wider the camera lens the greater the distortion. The fisheye lens with 180 degrees of view is the most distorting. Photographs using 35mm Cameras will select a 125/150 mm length for portraits. As they appear to give a happy medium and do not make the sitter look fat. Most mobile phones have a wide-angle lens distorting the image. For architecture photography, there are special lenses in which the front lens may be raised to correct parallax. Keeping vertical lines vertical.

I used fountain pen without line variation, but Beatrix Potter def. used dip pens with varying lines and tapered stroke too. I had good time doing these and I will do more, even though they are super hard. Study is the first image, invidual images - I took from the great book "The complete Tales" by B. Potter.

I'm not sure i did this assignment correctly :( Can someone help explain the shapes and the values? how do you get sharp edges with light areas? Thanks in advance

Too rounded. No straight lines. Too many levels of shade. I did exactly the same. When I draw a pear i see two circles with curved lines joining them together.

Working on this was super fun! It was a nice way to practice pressure control on my pencil. Hopefully, I'll be able to rely less on erasers with time. And... My proportions were off, so I ended up with a chonkier mouse.

Your drawings look fantastic. Very professional. Beatrix Potter would be proud of you.

Thank you. Most welcome help

Oh… I guess I simplified too much this time. I didn’t do any lay-in and went straight in like a gesture drawing exercise. This was first attempt before watching demo.

I like them.

Gestures were the nail in my coffin the last time I tried a Proko course (figure drawing) years ago. I burned through 300+ pages of newsprint with of 10s/30s/2m figure gestures drawing....and nothing felt like it stuck. I just couldn't connect gesture to structure and, since I don't like moving on if I can't at least understand why I'm doing something, my enthusiasm dried up and stopped following the course. I was looking SO forward to the rematch. Sadly, this dropped on what could have been the worst work week I have had in over a year, so my efforts were subpar. Given I only got about 20 minutes to draw at the end of some VERY long days. So details and proportions were sacrificed so that I could focus on trying to creating interesting shapes. Keep that in mind when you pull out the pencil to measure :)

My exact opinion as well. On this basic drawing course I do not like to guess what pencil softness I need to use etc. I now watch all the videos for a sectio then do the course work.

Here's my submission for the level 2 project (Changing the direction of the light source). I did this after watching Stan's Demo on Light Direction. All feedback is welcome!

Should the darkness of the lines be reversed?? Dark lines indicating nearness and the lightness lines indicating further away.? Just a thought. Hence the front two legs being drawn darker as well as the horn and face.. The rump drawn in lighter lines.

Did the exercise but didn't take the opportunity to print. I looked at the pear image on my screen. Lesson learned. My values, especially at the bottom of the pear were too dark and I didn't pick up the third value in the large shadow to the left. :-( Really enjoyed the exercise, however.

From what I understand of the lesson it is perfect.
