Asked for help
I found it hard to get out of 3-4 value systems and simplify shapes, though I managed to add more values in the second bigger portrait after my]multiple breakdown. But I still wasn’t sure how to keep track of them.

These are great, the simplification and process in the comps is fantastic. These feel very solid and sculptural. Nice work!

Wow, this is stunning—the expression is so powerful.

I tried combining depth , light and shadow - not sure if I can always show clear difference between light and shadow. Line weight also feels like it’s something more intuitive than having a clear system like values.

Was unsure at first with the penguin, but I liked how the hand turned out - criticism appreciated. I definitely found I had to leave the idea of copying s just getting an impression/ elements I liked.
Nice hands you capture movement and pressure with your 2 fingers pushed down in the palm.. Thats the level im hoping to get to doing this course. Thanks for your inspiring hand gestures :)

I think your exploratory lines capture the penguin fairly well, the main issue is that the lines where the lower beak and neck intersect give the impression that the beak is behind the neck, because so much more emphasis was given to the line of the neck. If you reworked that area, it would improve the whole piece. The hand looks fantastic!

Hi - I’m interested in the course but not sure I quite understand the concept of it being an anytime purchase and also being “in-progress” with a lot of people seemingly undertaking the same lessons and projects at the same time.
If someone starts now will they be out of sync with the majority of the people here? (Apologies if I’ve misunderstood)
Thanks for any info!
Hey the time of purchase and completion of assignments compared to others doesn’t matter. As long as you do the work and lessons you will be getting out of it as much as anyone who starts earlier or later than you. It’s just that this course is practically active which is why it looks as if we’re all doing it similar times.

I feel it’s a bit difficult to draw the larger shape then break it down - to smaller areas - like the shape of the bumps is quite tough ?
