is this part of the course covers all the material of Marshall perspective first part of his course? I'm really not sure if I should buy Marshall's course or is it the same...

Math discovery or invention? ooooh boy do I have opinions. lol Key insight regardless: it's all just a PROJECTION of straight lines in the world onto a curved surface (retina!) and we want to put that on a flat plane! As for multiple vanishing points: every single point on a page can be a vanishing point for some pair of parallel lines.

The clueless break the rule because they are unaware of them. A master knows when she is breaking the rules and (more importantly) she knows why she's breaking the rules.

This video is exactly what I needed. I really didn't understand on how to pick which perspective. I still don't, but now I understand that is ok! :)

I’ve been waiting for Marshall’s course for so long that I’ve done DrawBox, How to Draw, both Earnest Norling books, and Craig Attebery’s book. I’m good on perspective now. Just waiting on the shading section. I love you Marshall and Stan but it’s true.

It really makes no sense to classify perspective types by the number vanishing points visible. A box is in one point perspective NOT because it has one vanishing point visible. It is in one point perspective because the part of the box closest to the viewer is an entire plane. Likewise a “2 point box” has an edge closest to viewer. A 3P box has a corner closest to the viewer’

I absolutely LOVE this conversation and all Marshall has to say, and probably for the entirely wrong reason. 3D and perspective are absolutely mind-boggling to me, especially rotating 3D objects in space. Marshall basically validates that it's a super complicated thing. 17-point perspective? That's how it ALL feels to me!!! Love it.

Interesting topic! Apologies if this had been asked a million times: is there an estimation on when the perspective course will be released? :). I really enjoy the logic/science/magic of it! And Marshall is an inspiring teacher!

Marshall is the Obi-Wan Kenobi of perspective. And art. And life.

So I feel pretty comfortable with the simplified one, two, and three point perspective with simple boxes that have parallel sides and 90 degree corners. Will this course go further into more complex shapes? Like what if the box twists as it recedes or tapers as it comes toward you or curves?

All camera lenses distort the image. The wider the camera lens the greater the distortion. The fisheye lens with 180 degrees of view is the most distorting. Photographs using 35mm Cameras will select a 125/150 mm length for portraits. As they appear to give a happy medium and do not make the sitter look fat. Most mobile phones have a wide-angle lens distorting the image. For architecture photography, there are special lenses in which the front lens may be raised to correct parallax. Keeping vertical lines vertical.
