I've noticed my lines end off slanting down. Any advice how to fix that?

This is probably going to sound like a broken record but it really comes down to muscle memory. The more lines you draw, the better they get.

I tried to follow the instructions - to have fun. It was hard not to be perfectionistic about spacing etc.

This is my before and after the demo. Anyone have tips for how I can keep the tip of my pencil from getting smooth quickly? I run out of sharp pencil pretty fast.
