My attempts before the demo. I think I focused more on the lines than on simplifying. I could have done that more!

Hello! This is my first attempt at level 1, before watching the demo. I'll watch the demo and repeat the assignment next. I used pencils 4B, 2B, HB, 2H in order to create the 4 grey values (+ plain white page the fifth). I tried to keep the direction of the filling lines parallel to the horizontal edges of the planes I imagined composing the surface. I thought it would help giving the "roundness". Not sure if this can be appreciated in the final version, but it was good exercise to take into account the 3d shape while filling in. Mid-assignment I misunderstood the "sharp edge" part, and I started lining every contour of the shadows. I found myself having to erase strong lines, and that ended up a bit dirtier than how it was before. Of course I took a memo of taking pictures in between. Next time, next time. Overall happy of this first attempt :)
