Very nice. I like how you dropped the outline but still kept it all clean and sharp!

Great first attempt! I drew over a few areas because I felt like the darkest dark could be pushed back a big to help carve the form out. Then I noticed that you had outlined the pear to differentiate it from the background value -- swapping out that lighter value with a dark value will give you really nice contrast without having to outline! Hope this helps :)
