It was so hard for me to decide what to draw. Creativity is something I haven’t really had or expressed in a while. I hope this challenge helps me bring that back

Creativity is a muscle that you can improve with practice. Draw stuff you’re interested in. Stuff that you like. Food, plants, vehicles, buildings, people, animals, whatever you think is cool. This will build your visual library and make creativity come more naturally over time.

Tried the snail twice. Used a lot of ellipses in the first one which I felt went against the exercise and so I tried more definitive lines and shapes in the second. It amazes me how hard this is for me. One day I’m gonna be able to draw an amazing snail like it’s nothing. How cool. Edit: decided to draw it a third time (darker lines) and I noticed my observation improve and I started feeling more comfortable moving my arm and the page to get the right line.

Asked for help
I noticed how hard it was to do very few lines, as in I would have a ton of rotations to my ellipses. Maybe I was ghosting for too long and I was over correcting as I was going, forcing my hand rather than using my eyes. But idk, what do you do?

I did learn that when drawing the outline of the shadow, I still could notice the line I drew instead of it being a “blob” of shadow, and to fix that I just made the area immediately upon the line darker like the middle and it blended it all in and I no longer see the outline of it, even despite the edgy shape. Pretty cool.

Nice separation of light and shadow! Here’s a demo I made to help you with your next fruit drawing.
